NEW DELHI — Residents of a large town in central India are receiving an extra-large package from a local mattress company to their doorsteps to help ease their daily commute.
The delivery service from Lokal Express is being called a “last-minute gift” and is being delivered by a company called Lokal, according to an email from a company spokesperson.
The delivery is being offered to people who can’t make the 10-minute drive to their local office and who are worried about how to pay for their bed, said the spokesperson, who asked to remain anonymous.
The package is a two-bedroom mattress and the delivery company is using a small company that delivers to a specific town in the state of Uttar Pradesh, according the spokesperson.
The package arrived on Friday.
“The company is a small, medium-sized and large company that specializes in mattresses.
They provide free delivery and can deliver up to a two bedroom mattress in the town,” the spokesperson said.
The company says the package contains the mattress and a mattress pad.
The company is in talks with the government to offer the package to residents in the city of Bhubaneswar, the spokesperson added.
The Delhi government is trying to get the city’s residents to adopt the L.A.A.’s method of delivery, the company spokesperson said, noting that people in Delhi, as well as other parts of India, are increasingly opting for a delivery service, even if it means waiting for a week.
